Slumlord's newest effort, "Year of the Rat" was conceived, written, recorded and mixed during 2008, released in February 2009. Tom Scheponik and the boys returned to the C.O.D.E. Space with 13 songs on the slate. By using the natural acoustics of the room, and time-tested classic microphone placement techniques Sonic Tom documented studio precision mixed with the ambience of a live venue. Coupled again with the artistic talents of Mo Moussa,"Year of the Rat" establishes the personality and identity of Slumlord Philadelphia as something truly unique and eloquent, while remaining accessible and genuine. Long live the plague.

October, 2006 brought Slumlord back to the site of their first public performance, the C.O.D.E. space in West Philly, to record a batch of 12 songs with Sonic Tom Scheponik of Gringo Motel. Armed with a fistful of mics, some tube preamps and a 16 track digital recorder, the 'Lord raised some Hell in the Church of Divine Energy. The resultant "1347AD" was unleashed by Worldeater in January of 2007.

On Sunday, January 29th, 2006, we marched into the studios of WYSP in old city and cranked out five songs live on the air. We played in the control room with three room mics and one vocal mic (Tommy Conwell's announcing mic). It doesn't get much more raw, and we like it like that. In early April, 2005 Slumlord went to the Deathstar in South Philly to record 10 songs on 24 tracks with King Gary in the studio newly built by Kebin Unlord. Two days later, we emerged from the Worldeater compound with just that. Tom Scheponik mastered our disc, we got it pressed, and now we don't have any left. Here are two songs from Slumlord Philadelphia's eponymous release. Enjoy.
